Jesse gets new board

Young team rider from Kauai, Jesse Guglielmana stopped by the shaping bay today to get a new groveler hand-shaped by JP Holeman. He studies JP's every move and asks questions as JP explains what to look for when Jesse surfs the board. Jesse will be competing in the NSSA Nationals starting tomorrow at Lowers in open juniors. Nathan Carvalho will also be competing for the open men's title on Thursday. Best of luck Team HSD!

International Surfing Day

Grab your board and swimsuit and head on down to the beach for a worldwide celebration of the lifestyle you love! HSD will be at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas with the rest of the Surfrider crew to do a little cleaning up and hanging out. Yeah surfing!

Morning Song Farm, CSA

Here at HSD we believe in strong, healthy communities. Thats why we are now a drop-off point for fresh, organic produce locally grown right down the street in Rainbow. Every Tuesday Farmer Donna and her crew swing by the HSD house and drop-off their goods. A few of our neighbors are on the program, why not you?

Morning Song Farm is a small, sustainable, organic farm that grows a variety of common and unusual subtropical fruits and vegetables. My favorites are the avocados and macadamia nuts. We get a large basket each week and are never out of delicious and nutritious fruits and vegetables. Each week you get whatever was picked fresh and Donna sends out recipes to try.

Organic foods are healthier, being raised without petro-chemicals so all you eat is food. Buying food from a local source secures local jobs, stimulates the local economy, and saves us all some greenhouse gas emissions. You can even bring your kids, or just yourself, up to the farm to help your food grow and learn about the entire process of sustainable farming. Sustainable farming plans for the future and takes into account the way nature actually works, so there is no need to pump tons of toxic "fertilizer" into to soil to force a crop to grow.

Morning Song produce is delicious, fresh, organic and delivered right to our door. We hope to start seeing you on Tuesdays.

Actor Mike Rady picks up custom Bonzer

Mike Rady, star of Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 1 & 2, picked up his new custom bonzer between shooting for his new role on Melrose Place. JP and Mike custom designed the outline and bottom contours, our friend Wyatt did an amazing glass job with resin color, custom pins by Andrea. He waxed her up and took her surfing at glassy, head high Grandview for her maiden voyage. Enjoy her, Mike.

Future Fins and HSD Surfboards demo day

We had a huge surfboard demo with all the current HSD surfboard models and Future Fins on tap. Everyone was able to try out all the different shapes with all kinds of different fins. Look for the next demo in the next month or so!
